Dr. Cook
Dr. Robert Cook came to Kentucky in his high school years from Oklahoma, he is a graduate of the local Tates Creek High School in Lexington, after which he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his time in the army, Cook decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Kentucky. “I always knew I wanted to be a vet.” Dr. Cook maintains “The animals I’ve worked with through the years have changed, but the profession for me never did. I never considered anything else.” After graduating from UK, he worked for Dr. Bill Baker (Father of Dr. True Baker, Bluegrass Equine’s current Medical Director) and completed his vet school at Auburn University.
Over the last decade, he has been running his own successful private practice. He is a very active and involved member of the thoroughbred community, particularly in the sales and yearling prep space. He is most looking forward to the camaraderie and teamwork which is found at the core of the Bluegrass Equine Surgery team. He believes joining a clinic like Bluegrass will add not only a higher level of support and efficiency to his practice, but a deeper sense of camaraderie and cooperation that comes from a highly amicable group practice such as Bluegrass.
Bluegrass Equine Surgery is a comprehensive, world-class surgical facility with onsite diagnostics, imaging, pharmacy, and lab access, to care for any equine need on or off the farm.
