Dr. Thornton
Dr. Thornton grew up here in Woodford County. Thanks to her family’s long history in Thoroughbred breeding and racing she has an appreciation for the industry. Dr. Thornton graduated from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and went on to complete an ambulatory internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute.
Following this, she extended her reproductive training and experience in the Southern Hemisphere with Newcastle Equine Centre in Australia. Upon returning to the states, Dr. Thornton rounded out her training with Northrop Equine at Churchill Downs and Palm Meadows Training Center. Deciding to focus on reproduction, she returned to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in 2012.
Dr. Thornton has joined the Bluegrass team to focus on reproductive medicine, herd health, and acupuncture. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Colin, their two-spirited boys, and their German Shepherd Jinx. For fun, and in order to keep up with her tiny humans, she loves weight training and cycling.
